Tour Of Two Gardens

Today we did a tour of two gardens. We went to two of my favorite places, Schreiners Iris Farm and Adelman’s Peony Farm. Both are in North Salem/Keizer, OR about 2 miles from each other and about eight miles from me.

Schreiners was having their annual Iris Festival, with eats, wine tasting, and artisans selling their work. We went early because it was supposed to get really hot today, and we wanted to dodge the crowds. We were very lucky and got there even before the parking lot filled up.

As usual, the garden was lovely. Schreiners has one of the nicest display gardens of any place I’ve ever seen.

Inter-planted among the irises are clematises, columbine, peonies, poppies, and other beautiful perennials. It is a feast for the eyes.

We strolled up and down the rows, looking at irises in

Purple, Pink,

Yellow,

Orange,

Blue and

Cool Iris color combinations

And we found an Iris, Garden Time, named after a local gardening show.

Then after we finished in the garden we went into the gift shop. We got out relatively unscathed with only the purchase of a hardy fuschia and some pasta.

We decided we were not too tired to go on over to Adelman’s, and we went to see their lovely display garden.

As usual, we strolled through their lovely horseshoe shaped garden among all the beautiful peonies in

Pink,

Red,

White and yellow.

I have a fetish for the single peonies with a small bomb in the center.

However, when it came down to it I had to go home with a very fragrant double or is that triple watermelon colored Peony, named
Big Ben.
