Hey. It’s about time my tomatoes got in the ground. It’s almost late May and I am at least two to three weeks behind. After weeks and weeks of a dreary, chilly, wet spring, I finally got to put my tomatoes in the ground. Yippee.

Perfect sandwich. Warm weather, followed by cool, cloudy weather, followed by hot weather. I got them in yesterday and today, along with a couple of tomatillos in another bed. Soaker hose is down. All that remains now is the red plastic cloth and tomato cages.
I’m also putting up floating row covers over pvc hoops as a cage to keep my cats, the birds, and bugs out of the bed. Better than the darn fence I struggle with when I am bending over. We will see how that works.

Also moving along with the plants I got at the plant sale. I bought a pretty purple heuchera and bleeding heart which I got in the ground, as well as two flats of mixed sedums, which I mixed in among some other sedum already there.

My irises have finally started blooming, late, of course; and peonies are going to open up soon. They tell us this will be a warmer than usual summer. I will, believe it when I see it. Well, maybe I will get some tomatoes after all.
Any time is a good time to plant stuff! Your idea to keep the critters out sounds like a great one. It looks like your flowers are doing well. That iris is just fantastically gorgeous!

Thanks Betty,
It is certainly nice to have decent weather to be able to get out into the garden.
