Will Spring Ever Get Here

After quite some time not posting, I thought I better get back into the swing of things on my blog. While it’s been freezing in the Midwest and East Coast, here in the Northwest we are beginning to show signs of spring.

My Snowdrops, Hellebores, and Sarcococa are all blooming. While my Daffodils and Tulips are showing their little green heads above ground.

I’ve been getting tons and tons of seed catalogs, but haven’t purchased anything yet. I will probably buy from Territorial Seeds a few Northwest varieties. The rest of my veggies I will probably buy from the Master Gardeners Plant Sale in May.

I confess that I have been rather bad about posting on my blog recently. I have been hanging out on Bubblews and meeting new people from around the world. However most of them are not Gardeners and I missed some of my Garden buddies. I promise to be a little bit more present as Spring approaches. So tell me, have you seen any signs of Spring in your garden.

  2. So happy to have you back! Let me tell you, I am counting the days till Spring. Although, we have had a low snow level this year and we really need it! If not, we will pay for it this summer. My Hellebores are still buried under snow out back, but I have noticed my daffodils poking their heads out. Can’t wait! Spring is my favorite season.

  3. Hi Yael–Nice to hear from you! Your flowers are lovely. I’ve got snowdrops and sarcacoca, but no hellebore yet. I am anxiously awaiting their arrival. It’s been so warm that some people even have crocus blooming already in Portland, but I haven’t even seen any above ground yet in my garden.

    It’s nice to see you posting again. I’m amazed with all the signs of new growth in your garden. Here, there’s a lovely blanket of fresh snow and more is still falling.

    Enjoy watching all of that fresh life popping up in your area; I may just have to plant hellebores at some point!

  14. Right here in Central Ky. in the middle of the US not signs of spring yet. One of the coldest and snowiest winters in years. However folks have seen robins around but maybe they did not ever leave. The weather is so fickle no one knows what to count on. Loving your flower shots. Will be rustling around in the leaves myself soon, looking for signs of tulips.

  15. I can’t imagine the start of the first spring flowers starting in my garden, we are about 2 months from that yet. Besides I’m not at home to see it if it was happening. Seed catalogues, you made me laugh, I think at one time I was collecting both catalogues and seeds.

  18. Tulips and daffodils are poking up through the ground, along with the snowdrops and crocuses. But they might be headed back down with the cold temperatures we are expecting this week.
    I do love hellebores and each winter I tell myself I should get some to plant. Lovely to see yours.

  19. I have absolutely nothing in my garden right now. It’s been so cold here that even the things I rely on for winter color have died. 😦 I have been contemplating hellebores. That way if we have another year of harshness, I will at least have winter color. (Zone 8b). I love your hellebores. I may just have to buy some. 🙂

      We haven’t have the snow that you have. However I am in an 8B Zone also and I am really in love with my hellebores and things like sarcococca. The winter bloomers are some of my favorites.

  27. How lucky you are! We have a heavy coating of snow and temps from subzero to the twenties. It’s still very much winter here. Seeing your flowers gives me hope – send some of that warm air this direction!

  29. Spring has never failed to come. Like you, I go out looking for signs: seedlings, bulb sprouts, an early blossom. I am never disappointed. We are in the same zone I think (8b?) but our climates are different, particularly the summers.
