My Solstice Daylilies

It’s the first official day of Summer.  Happy Solstice!!  And my garden is showing a good flush of summer flowers – my Solstice Daylilies and a few others.  Daylilies have become another of my flower fetishes, so here are the first of about twenty different varieties that I have.  In honor of summer I wanted to show what is blooming in my garden this Summer Solstice Day!

I think this one has the colors of the Summer Sun, don’t you?  I love the vibrant color.

Another Sunny Daylily. This beauty is one of my largest flowered one at almost 8 inches across.

This beauty has a green throat and purplish burst .  This is my favorite daylily.

I love this orange Daylily.  See the bee on the flower.

This is a tiny flowered Daylily, but I just love the color combination of pale yellow and maroon.

Another yellow one.  But this Daylily is slightly greenish.

This is another of my favorites with pink petals and a brilliant magenta throat and yellow eye.

This is bright magenta Daylily is one of my reds.  Isn’t it pretty?

And lastly, my beautiful coppery red Daylily punctuates the Summer energy of my Solstice Daylilies.

  3. Such pretty daylilies! I love the two-toned flowers, and they must make a magnificent display all together. I have one variety of daylily, and it’s solid yellow. It’s bright and pretty, but you’ve inspired me to add a few more colours to my garden 🙂 Wendy

      Thanks and thanks for coming by. I have them clustered in several spots in my garden and really like the pizzaz I get in the summer Gardn.

  6. What a fabulous collection of Daylilies. I’ve just become a recent fan of these plants in the last two years, and I just wish I had room to plant loads more!

  7. Ah… daylilies! I’ve noticed some budding up in our gardens, which seems early, especially with our late spring. I never fully appreciate daylilies until they begin to bloom and I am reminded just how beautiful they are…. I’m looking forward to a couple hundred of my new hybrids to hopefully bloom for the first time… this time around I hybridized late blooming parents which will hopefully do just that in terms of extending the daylily season. I enjoyed seeing some of your favorites! Larry

  12. Your Daylilies are lovely. Daylilies have so many uses in the garden: edging, focal point, some of the vigorous ones will even hold soil in place on a slope.

    Have you tried saving seeds and growing your very own cultivar?

      Thanks. Daylilies really are workhorses aren’t they. I have saved seeds once or twice, but never went any further. It would be interesting to see what I get. Larry sounds more purposeful in actually hybridizing his.
