It’s about that time to go In Search Of Spring. With New England just having been hammered last week with several feet of snow, it is hard to conceive of this. Yet, in our Zone 7-8 area in the Pacific Northwest we are starting to see some Spring flowers and other concrete signs of Spring.
Near Valentines Day is about the time we are able to prune roses and other shrubs, as long as you aren’t whacking off spring flowers. Just a few days ago, I checked my shrubs and almost nothing had buds beginning to break. Today, I saw lots. Time to break out my pruners.
Lots of bulbs are coming up.
Some of my shrubs are either blooming already or are getting ready to bloom.
I’m really getting really psyched and plan to go out pruning today.
How is your garden growing? Any signs of Spring yet where you are?
