Me, guilty of Plant Shopping Indiscretions? I confess my guilt. A good plan is to have a plan. Select plants based on what would grow best in different parts of the garden.
I suppose the next best thing is to see something you want, and then plan where you will put it before you go shopping. This is what I did when I saw a clematis I lusted after, Romantika. I made a pilgrimage to Joy Creek Nursery near Portland OR in the rain. I even ordered ahead.

Do you think I left there with only one clematis? No, I left with three, plus another for a gift. I did indeed buy, Romantika which has a dark purple, almost black flower.
But I also purchased Helios, which has a yellow bell shaped flower. This was semi planned, as I have wanted a late blooming, yellow clematis.
And Clematis Odoriba, which has a pink bell shaped flower. This was totally an impulse buy. Can’t you see why? The flower is lovely. I know I will find a place for it.
Earlier in the week I had purchased a evergreen clematis to provide screening along the fence we just had built. This was planned.
Now for my other Garden Meanderings. I really needed to finish some garden projects before buying other plants. Case in point, my tomatoes have gotten way too big to put cages over them, but I did succeed doing it this morning, although I needed help.
Also, last night it rained and pounded some of my plants. I woke up to find that my grasses were bent over, as were my Shasta daisies, a new Japanese maple, and the Crocosmia Lucifer.
My other project of the morning was to prop my much too big grasses and crocosmia up and to stake them. Propping up the grass is for esthetic reasons, but the crocosmia needs to be staked to keep my cats away from the hummingbirds who will soon be coming for their nectar.
Newly blooming in my garden are an array of beautiful Daylilies. They are starting to bloom fast and furiously now.
Red Daylily
Another Red Daylily (A little russet, I think.)
Orange Daylily
Yellow Daylily
Pink Daylily
Blue Eyed Butterfly Daylily
And last but not least, I’ll actually give names for the flowers I had in my Red, White And Blue mosaics that I had used in the 4th of July Pet Safety Tips post I made a few days ago.
Red Flowers – Red Rose, Red Dahlia, Broken Tag Red Clematis, Red Knockout Rose, Red (Maroon) Daylily, Red Wigelia.
White Flowers – White Peony (Very fragrant), Clematis Purpurea, Feverfew, Shasta Daisy, Rosa Rugosa Alba, White Foxglove (salvaged).
Blue Flowers – Clematis Julii, Blue Linaria, Blue Cranesbill Geranium, Lavendar, Blue Campanula, Blue Baptisia.
With that, I will again wish everyone a Happy 4th of July and Happy Canada Day and Happy Gardening to friends in other parts of the world.

I LOVE all the pictures! I am so guilty of plant shopping indiscretions! My husband won’t even let me go into the garden center when we go to Home Depot anymore because I get “lost” in there! LOL Hopping from Sunny Simple Life.

I know what you mean about “not being allowed to go to garden centers”. I hear the same, but it does no good. I am trying to cut down this “addiction” however. I also don’t have much room left, which is why I am going Up, as with clematises.

I rather like those fuzzy edged borders. I’ve been know to pick up more than was in the plan. A new plan has me thinking of a rose bush. There were no buds on a new bush last year or this, rather odd.

I have rather taken a liking to the fuzzy edged frame too. The vignette was nice too, but it only worked in black.
I do love roses too. We live in black spot land in the Pacific Northwest, so it is always a challenge. They are doing fairly well this year despite the damp conditions.

All the frames are nice but the fuzzy / lacy ones are rather different looking and fun! : )

Thanks. I think that is ree votes for the “brush stroke edge”. I have that in an IPad app. I make the rounds using a couple of iPad apps and the online mosaic maker that Mosaic Monday links to. I like all three.

Yes, it is hard to come home without buying more than you intended. If only I had a little more will power. Otoh, another way of looking at is, “something is not going to make it….I need insurance.”. 😉
