Dark Foliage In The Garden

Mosaic Monday June 11

It’s Mosaic Monday June 11 and I am sad to see that my irises are on their last blooms and my peonies are almost done.  This year has been wonderful for both my irises and peonies, and they have really put on a show.  But next come the summer blooms of daylilies and roses in my garden.  Here are some of the flowers blooming in the meantime.

 
The day has been so busy that I almost forgot to take photos of what I do have blooming in my garden.  Almost dusk, I got these shots of my garden.  I found that there are convenient grouping of flowers by color, so here they are.
 
Dark Foliage In The Garden
 
My.dark foliage plants.  First is my dark elderberry which is almost in full bloom.  This is it’s nicest year so far.  Next is My purple foliage dahlia (bloom will be magenta).  I love my dark begonia, whose flowers will be dark pink.  The lamium is silver with a dark edge and dark pink flowers.
 
Red Flowered Plants
 
My.reds and vivid pink flowers are on one of my favorite clematises, the red valerian, salvage foxglove, and astrantia.
 
Yellows And Greens In The Garden
 
In the yellow range are the grasses in my volcano strip; the yellow Stella D’Oro daylily, yellow wallflower and yellow and green foliage on the eonymous; the greens and yellows of my front garden with the now faded flower heads of the purple alliums; and the green tomato plants that are doing really well in containers.
 
My roses are starting to bloom as are the Daylilies.  Maybe next Mosaic Monday I will have those to share as well.  For now, I’m sharing with Dear Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. And also with Blooming Tuesday.

  1. The dark Elderberry looks fabulous, and I just love the Begonia as well. Great pinks and reds, and those Grasses look magnificent right now.

      Thanks. I really love both my dark elderberry and begonia tool. I am quit a fan of dark foliage plants, and would like to have more.

      Thanks. I love my reds. That clematis is one of my favorites. The red valerian self seeds nicely, but does not really become a thug.

  3. Your garden looks wonderful with all the blooms. I wish I could grow foxglove and have tried several times without success. Yours are stunning!

      Thanks for coming by and thanks for you kind comment. Foxgloves are one of my favorite plants and at least here self seed readily. I wish you could grow them where you are too.

  4. You have a nice diversity of plants, the dark leaves of the elderberry are striking against the pink flowers.
    I just planted red valerian this year and hope it will self seed in my garden a bit too to fill in around it.

    1. Thank you. I particularly love my elderberry. It is finally getting big enough to put on a show. The red valerian is really nice to have in the garden. It did well in my previous home and seems to be doing well here too. Good luck with yours.

    I like the colour groupings of your photos and thinking that I can’t believe I don’t have valerian in my garden. It is so pretty. Everything looks wonderful; my thumb needs more greening!

      Thanks and thanks for coming by. By all means get the red valerian. It self seeds in my garden, and these are even happier than the ones I had in my previous home.
