I’m going to show you some of my favorite gardening tools. These are my pruning tools. My three favorite pruning tools are my bypass pruner, my bypass lopper and my pruning shear. These are really indispensable to me. I have also done a brief video, that will show them to you.
I have a number of bypass pruners in several different locations around the garden. They are very handy for cutting small branches, twigs, and even flowers. I am I have some in the back yard, in the front yard, and in my garage.
My next favorite pruning tool is my bypass lopper. It is good for cutting larger branches. I just did quite a bit of pruning with mine after some of my early blooming shrubs were finished blooming. We are also awaiting a painter to paint the house and needed to clear the shrubs away from the house.
My third favorite pruning tool is my pruning shears. These are good for shaping shrubs. Since I don’t have many shrubs that get shaped other than a few azaleas, I don’t use them very often, but they are useful when needed.
It’s important to keep your gardening tools clean. And you should all sharpen them at least once during the year usually in the fall or winter. You should also keep them oiled, so they do not rust. I use some olive oil on a cloth or paper towel. I just rub the cloth over the cutting blades. This prevents them from rusting.
A small project I plan to do is make a sand bin for my garden tools, with oil already in it. All you need to do is shove the tool into the sand. The sand cleans off any remaining dirt and keeps your tools oiled and in good shape for your gardening.
